Fujitsu Expands High-Speed Connector Series to Support
Serial-Attached SCSI, Serial ATA, and 10G Fiber Channel
Sunnyvale, Calif. - August 25, 2003 - - Fujitsu Components America, Inc. has expanded its microGiGaCNTM high-speed, differential connector line by adding an I/O plug with thumbscrews, which is the standard I/O configuration for Serial Attached SCSI 4-lane, Serial ATA-2 4-lane and 10G Fiber Channel technology. Fujitsu’s microGiGaCN series now offers a full-range of industry-standard, high-speed copper interconnects for various
high-speed transport technologies.

The microGiGaCN series offers improved price/performance over optical or coaxial connectors, greater flexibility and scalability over several product generations, and improved system reliability. Aimed primarily at the server and storage industry, the microGiGaCN series is also suited for telecom applications, optical modules interface applications, high-speed video equipment, high-speed test equipment, logic analyzers,
and medical instrumentation.
The new FCN-260D is a copper I/O solution designed for differential signaling. It is available in 4x and 12x versions, and includes a backshell, board-mount socket and cable assembly. The device’s current rating is AC 0.5A for
signal and AC 1A for ground.
The FCN-260D enables a scalable performance range of 500MB/second to 6GB/second per link to meet the needs of both entry-level and high-end systems. Forward crosstalk is less than 4% at 100 pico second pulse-rise time (four-pair switching)
with 93.6 to 109.9 ohms impedance.
The new thumbscrew I/O plug is available immediately from stock. Pricing for the eight pair, board-mount socket and I/O plug with backshell
is $15.00 in 10K-piece quantities.
