STACKING CONNECTOR MAINTAINS
INTEGRITY OF
HIGH-FREQUENCY SIGNALS
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- July 27, 1998 -- Fujitsu
Takamisawa America, Inc. (FTA) today released a matched-impedance, printed circuit board
connector that reduces line noise and signal crosstalk to maintain signal integrity in
systems operating at speeds up to 600MHz.
The FCN-290H series consists of a 100-position, surface-mount plug and jack that measure
39.15mm (1.54 inches) long. It has a contact pitch of 0.5mm (0.02 inches) and a
board-to-board stacking height of 5.5mm (0.216 inches).
To minimize signal interference, the connector features a series of wide ground blades
between the signal terminals. This design shields the signal terminals from adjacent lines
and results in low crosstalk and impedance matching of 50W. Crosstalk of 1.47%% near end
and 1.37%% far end are achieved at 300Mhz (1.16ns rise time).
Originally designed for central processing unit modules, the FCN-290H connector also can
be used for memory, multi-chip, and other high-performance modules. The connector’s
small size is especially applicable for use in compact portable devices and equipment,
such as notebook PCs, Personal Digital Assistants and portable telephones.
The FCN-290H series has a 0.2A DC contact rating at 24V AC, and a maximum contact
resistance of 80mW. Insulation resistance is 500V DC (100MW min.) and dielectric withstand
voltage is 150V AC.
Available immediately through distribution, the FCN-290H series is priced at $5.50 in
5K-piece quantities. The connectors are packaged in plastic carrier trays or tape and reel
to accommodate vacuum pick-up equipment.
